Argentina has offered to deploy special forces to Kaz to fortify in preparation for closing the border. They can get them there this turn and start next turn and only ask us to pay the airfare. $4 there and $4 back.
I did inform them of our possible plan to move militia forces into Kaz to do the same and suggested they might check with other countries with nearby infected if they need help. I then said I'd forward their offer to the Premier.
If we are good on move two militia units into Kaz I'd like to make a public announcement soon as a sign of peaceful intent.
Is there any bonus for having more than one unit in a country while closing borders? Also do we need to fortify first, then close?

If it takes multiple turns I'd actually say to wait for the research so we can just do screening, from what people have siad in the thread that replaces the need for closed borders.

Argentina's help gets us nothing if we're moving our own militia in, correct? I'd tell them no.

If possible I'd still like to move the militia with air filters into Kaz publicly. Then next turn, depending on what happens, they can either start closing up or just return to Russia with no real loss. Are we sill going to have the navy secure sea borders?

Nowhere does it actually say how long it takes to close a border, just that a fortified border makes closing "easier" I think Grumpy did say you can not move a unit in AND close the border in the same turn. So if we have Milita moving in this turn, then next they can just shot the border or leave with no cost except for the air filters.
For money I'd say five Science as much as it wants, then Diplomacy, then any spare spend on air filters. I don't think I need to move anything that uses upkeep.

As several other countries have now mentioned the sanctions hurting us and Kaz in being able to respond I'd like to announce now in the main thread that we are moving the militia as a humanitarian effort to bring in supplies, Water and such, in to Kaz. That might help internationally as well. Please let me know if that is cool with you guys.

Feel free to do so. Maybe even just say you're diverting our military forces there; makes us look good.
SADPACT offered to block the resolution if we gave them Russia's nuclear arsenal. I of course rejected, but if negotiations with them completely fall through I'm considering mentioning that in the thread.

We got a host ruling on that that I don't have to be quiet in the thread.

But fine, if you want to point out they're using these sanctions as an excuse to try to blackmail us feel free.

We should probably spend a good portion of our money on diplomacy, and get some neutral countries allied with us.

At this point adding more neutral countries seems problematic, especially considering all the ones near us have been taken.
I guess we could ally with Cuba for laughs?

We have one last chip we could offer.
SADPACT has 5 members. There are 10 nations in the game; Russia's vote would be a 6th, and would enable them to run the UN however they want; sanctions on the US, sanctions on China, Sanctions on anyone that doesn't give them what they want.
However, I'm not inclined to offer this. It gives SADPACT too much power, and we'd probably end up having to choose between them and China at some point.

I expect China would be unhappy with us if we tried to ally with Japan.
